Scripture: Exodus 2:23-25

Now it happened in the process of time that the King of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage and they cried out; their cry came up to God because of the bondage. So God heard their groaning and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. And God looked upon the children of Israel and God acknowledged them.

1. God Heard Their Cry

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy that it cannot hear.” (Isaiah 59:1)

46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. 51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” 52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.“ (Mark 10:46-52)

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.“ (2 Chro. 7:14)

“Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath” (Psa. 116:2)

2. God Remembered His Agreement

A. God Remembered His Agreement With Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

”I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you; I will curse him who curses you and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Gen. 12:2-3)

”And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant to be God to you and your descendants after you” (Gen 17:7)

B. God Wants Us To Remember The Agreement We Made With Him

”… take eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This is the New Covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” (1 Cor. 11:24-25)

”For this is My blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” (Matt. 26:28-29)

3. God Looked and Acknowledged

What is God looking for?

A. Generally Speaking
  • God is watching everything and everybody.

”For His eyes are in the ways of men, and He sees all his steps.” (Job 34:21)

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the good and the evil” (Pro. 15:3)

B. Specifically Speaking

”… God sees not as man sees …“ (1 Sam. 16:7)

  • God looks at our heart
  • Weakness and strength
  • What are we going through in life
  • Do you think God is admiring you?
  • God is looking at our loyalty to Him (2 Chro. 16:9a)
  • God is looking and wanting to help you (Psa. 32:8)

”For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chro. 16:9a)

”I will instruct you and teach you int he way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” (Psa. 32:8)

The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Pet. 3:9)

”But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:12)
