Thrust: Through eyes of faith (looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith) we will be able to see the goodness, greatness and faithfulness of God – amid uncertainties and adversities – and be overcomers.

God’s message to us is:
With Him, the

  • tangled becomes untangled
  • burden becomes blessing
  • natural becomes supernatural
  • ordinary becomes extraordinary
  • impossible becomes possible

God has called us:

  1. To be a Spirit-filled people: fully devoted followers and disciples of Christ
  2. To be a Spirit-filled Church: produce life-change and community impact
  3. To reach and impact the spiritually unresolved—here and beyond: locally and overseas

What does it mean to HAVE FAITH IN GOD?

  • to have a wholehearted belief in God
  • to have absolute and radical trust in God to do the impossible on our behalf
  • to act on what we believe about Him and His Word
  • to read and obey God’s Word unflinchingly

God’s Word says it. We believe it. We will do it.

In 5 areas: Have Faith in

  1. WHO God is – Divine Person and Presence
    • His Nature
    • His Character
  2. WHAT Got can do – Divine Power
    • His Work
    • His Ability
  3. His WORD – Divine Wisdom
    • His Instruction
    • His Assurance
    • His Discipline
His Word is flawless, infallible and inerrant.
  4. His WILL – Divine Guidance
    • His Command = Love
    • His Commission = Go
    • His Cry (prayer) = Unite
    • His Concern = for our Good (Rom. 8:28)
  5. His WAY – Divine Direction
    • His Way is Perfect – 2 Sam 22:31; Psa 18:30
    • His Way is Higher – Isa 55:8-9
    • His ways are Just – Deut 32:4

David’s Prayer:

“Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Saviour, and my hope is in You all day long (Psalm 25:4–5)

Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name (Psalm 86:11)

We are called to:

  1. Walk in Faith – with Courage and Confidence
  2. Live by Faith – with Assurance
  3. Serve with Faith – with Perseverance
  4. Die in Faith = with Endurance

Where does faith come from?

  1. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Rom 10:17)
    – We must read, study, meditate, act on God’s Word
  2. Faith is built up as we pray in the Spirit: speak in tongues (Jude 20)

  1. With Faith, we will please God
    • because “faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Heb. 11:1)
  2. Without Faith, we can never please God
    • “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him” (Heb 11:6)
    • If we don’t believe God, we will never obey Him.

God expects His people to live by faith (Hab 2:4)

  • Heb 2:4 – not by pride or greed
  • Rom 1:17 – in His righteousness, not ours
  • Gal 3:11 – being justified by Christ, not by law
  • Heb 10:37-38 – shall remain faithful (stand firm) to the end

  1. Faith in God brings salvation, blessings, healing, breakthrough, signs, wonders, miracles, victory, rest, joy, peace, hope, strength, power, eternity in heaven, etc.
  2. Faith in God eliminates fear and confusion, doubt and speculation, uncertainty and indecisiveness.

Faith is a choice of the heart:

  • to trust God completely and hold on to His promises or to reject Him and His Word

True Faith in God will lead to true confession and declaration.

  • We confess what we believe in our heart
  • We receive what we believe and ask of God

  1. Jairus (Mark 5:23)
  2. Woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34)
  3. Bartimaeus (Mark 10:51)
  4. Man with leprosy (Matt 8:2)
  5. Centurion (Matt 8:8)

12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it…

20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. 21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!” 22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (Mark 11:12-14, 20-25)

What will defeat you or rob you of God’s blessings?

  1. Fear and Anxiety, Doubt and Unbelief, etc.
  2. Wrong thinking, Wrong believing and Wrong talking

  1. God will be exaltedglorified and magnified.
  2. You will be blessed.
  3. You will be a blessing to many.

  1. Trust God completely:
“With Him all things are possible.”
  2. Believe that God will hear your prayer and meet your need
  3. Live right and speak positively with faith
