Scripture: Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

God’s secret intention is revealed – to form a body to express Christ’s fullness on earth.

As God’s masterpiece, we will commit to fulfill His mandate.

1. The Instructions

  1. The written Word of God does not excuse us
  2. The written Word of God is for the long haul

The Word of God is:

  • Infallible
  • Immutable
  • Inexhaustible, and
  • Supernatural

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matt. 24:35)

“Be therefore perfect, even as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matt. 5:48)

“Perfect” in its original Greek word means:

  • Maturity
  • Complete
  • Wholeness

Thus it should be: “Be rounded, be whole, be complete as God is.”

Kintsugi pottery:

  • A Japanese practise mending broken glassware with gold and silver
  • Resulting in glassware is more beautiful than the one that broke
  • Build on the idea of strength and beauty in perfection

2. The Antidote

  1. Remove the stone
  2. Relationship that leads to boldness

God calls us out of the grave of fear, bondage, etc. because you and I are His masterpiece.

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13, NKJV)

This word “realized” is interpreted in other version as:

  • Perceived (New King James)
  • Grasp the fact (The Amplified)
  • Discover (The New English Translation)

“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” (1 Cor. 1:27)

“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:5)

The word – “Comprehend” has three interpretations:

  • To seize
  • Lay hold of
  • Overcome

Light & Darkness

  • They are antagonistic
  • They are hostile to each other
  • Both elements cannot co-exist

3. The Outcome

  1. Make a difference
  2. Make it last

Only one life, ’twill soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last. ~ Charles Studd
